The average toilet has a bowl-shape, a seat with a lid and a handle to flush. With the addition of a tissue roll (or baby wipes if you’re cool), this combination of tools has proven satisfactory in the league of bathroom hygiene for years. Some of us use the private time to think and reflect on life while others find discomfort in the utter lack of fun and activity. In fact, stories about cell phones accidentally falling inside the toilet are constantly emerging on the Internet all the time. But suddenly there is motivation to enjoy the potty more often than normal, even when it isn't necessary, and it’s called—the Kohler Numi.
The "Smart Toilet"
This is no ordinary flushing machine whatsoever. It can operate wherever there is an available power outlet and comes equipped with an adjustable, heated seat and a number of customizable options. You can control the water temperature and pressure, ambient lighting if you wish to set the mood and a built-in audio system for your music. It also provides a deodorizer for the occasional after effects.
It gets better. If your feet ever get jealous from the royal treatment, it provides a foot warmer to share the love. And, of course, it is automated to respond accordingly to your arrival and departure, along with "an integrated stainless steel, self-cleaning bidet wand and dryer (Baig, 2011).”
Last but not least, the touch screen remote (with rechargeable battery and wall mount) for all of Numi’s settings is the icing on the cake, featuring a dozen different language selections as well.
Energy Conservation
You can choose from two different color designs, white or biscuit, but the toilet itself is “green.” While either process is extremely quiet, an “eco” flush cycle uses an efficient 0.6 gallons of water, or the full flush at 1.28 gallons for heavier loads.
Consumer Feedback
The Kohler Numi has been under development for five years and is assumed to appeal to consumers who want the best technology on the market. David Kohler, president and COO of the Wisconsin-based business, has already tested the product on some Asian markets with much success. Let’s face it: it is very rare to find a toilet that offers the attraction of an entertainment system and the comfort of a La-Z-Boy, all in one high-tech sales package.
Speaking of entertainment, the company has also released hints about an upgrade that has video streaming capabilities and is compatible with Microsoft’s latest acquired software, Skype. For now, if you have $6,300 to spare, the Kohler Numi will have you both urinating and defecating in style!
